The KENNAMETAL 2263062 is a solid carbide round milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation RDPX12T3M0SHP and manufactured grade KCPK30. It features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 for wear resistance and thermal stability across demanding cutting applications. The insert measures 0.4724 inches wide and 0.1563 inches thick, with a 0.4710-inch inscribed circle and a 0.1535-inch hole diameter for screw-type holding. Four cutting edges are available per insert. The chamfered and honed cutting edge style combined with a positive rake and 15-degree relief angle supports efficient chip formation in production milling environments. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production facilities are the primary installers.
This insert is designed for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, K, and S. It is compatible with the Kennametal KDM-12 cutter series and is suited for both roughing and finishing passes where a round insert geometry is specified. The HP chip breaker designation targets high-performance cutting conditions. Applications span aerospace component machining, heavy manufacturing, and general metalworking where consistent edge life across multiple workpiece materials is required.
Designed for use with the Kennametal KDM-12 cutter series. Insert style is RDPX, size code 12T3, conforming to ANSI and ISO standards for interchangeable round milling inserts.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all energy is isolated before changing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification — do not over-tighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert to ensure proper seating and edge engagement.
