The KENNAMETAL 2244888 is a CNMG643MS indexable turning insert in grade KC5010 with a physical vapor deposition (PVD) TiAlN coating. It features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a neutral hand orientation and a negative rake and clearance geometry. The inscribed circle measures 3/4 inches, the insert length is 0.7616 inches (19.34 mm), the thickness is 1/4 inches, and the corner radius is 3/64 inches (0.0469 inches). With four cutting edges and a honed cutting edge style, this insert belongs to the KENNAMETAL KENLOC series and is suited for roughing and medium machining operations performed by machinists and toolroom professionals.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, and boring applications on CNC lathes and turning centers. The KC5010 grade with TiAlN PVD coating targets steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), superalloys, and titanium (S/N) workpiece materials, offering high to moderate wear resistance combined with toughness. It is a multi-use insert appropriate for general roughing through medium material removal rates where consistent edge life across a range of work materials is required. The MS chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation during interrupted and continuous cuts at moderate to heavy depths.

Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians following standard CNC lathe insert changeout procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is locked before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and engage the clamp or pin per the toolholder manufacturer torque guidelines. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for wear or debris before each insert change to maintain accurate geometry and prevent premature edge failure.
