The KENNAMETAL 2234423 is a solid carbide milling insert with ISO designation OFKT07L6AFENGB and ANSI code OFKT64AFEN6GB, manufactured in the OFKT series for use in KSOM cutter bodies. The insert features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3, optimized for wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding milling operations. It carries grade KCPK30, a designation suited to interrupted and continuous cuts across a broad range of workpiece materials. With 8 cutting edges on a single-sided octagonal body and a positive rake geometry, this insert is engineered for efficient chip formation. Machinists and CNC tool-room technicians install this insert in compatible indexable milling toolholders.
This insert is designed for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, covering material application codes P, M, K, and S. The GB chip breaker geometry supports positive rake cutting with a honed cutting edge style, making it appropriate for both roughing and semi-finishing passes in production milling environments. The neutral hand designation allows flexible positioning in compatible cutter bodies. The KSOM cutter series is the specified compatible platform for this insert. It is suited to CNC machining centers in both job-shop and high-volume manufacturing settings.
Designed for use in KENNAMETAL KSOM series cutter bodies. Compatible with ISO designation OFKT07L6AFENGB and ANSI designation OFKT64AFEN6GB indexable milling systems.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be powered down and locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer to seat the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before installing a new insert to ensure accurate seating and prevent premature edge failure.
