The KENNAMETAL 2229696 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VNMG331MS geometry, coated with TiAlN via a PVD process under the KC5010 manufacturer grade. It carries a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64-inch corner radius. The insert seats with negative rake and negative side clearance, making it well-suited for interrupted cuts and demanding turning applications. Four cutting edges are available per insert. Intended for use by machinists and CNC turning specialists, the 2229696 fits within the KENNAMETAL KENLOC toolholding system.

This insert is designed for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. The MS chip breaker geometry is rated for roughing and medium machining. Installation Notes
