The KENNAMETAL 2210040 is a solid carbide parallelogram milling insert carrying ISO designation CDE322R05 and manufacturer grade KCPK30. It is engineered for indexable milling operations where edge toughness and wear resistance are critical. The insert features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3, which provides thermal protection and extends tool life across a range of workpiece materials. At 0.375 inches inscribed circle and 0.15 inches thick, this single-sided, right-hand insert uses a screw-clamping hold method. It is sized within the CDE322 insert family and suited for production milling on machining centers and mills operated by tooling specialists and machinists.
This insert is rated for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, and S. It fits applications ranging from general-purpose steel roughing to more demanding cuts in heat-resistant alloys. The 80-degree included angle and 0.0299-inch corner radius make it appropriate for medium to finish milling passes where controlled chip formation and consistent surface finish are required. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and profile milling on CNC machining centers in job shop and production environments.
Designed for use in KENNAMETAL CDE-series indexable milling toolholders that accept CDE322 inserts with a screw-clamping hold method and right-hand cutting geometry.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. Disengage the machine spindle and confirm the toolholder is fully secured before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the insert seat and screw for wear or debris before seating the new insert.
