The KENNAMETAL 2047471 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill insert in the KSEM series, designed to fit KSEM-body modular drilling systems. The insert carries the KC7315 manufacturer grade with a TiAlN PVD coating and targets primary cutting in steel workpiece materials (ISO material code P). The cutting diameter is 19.45 mm (49/64 inch, 0.7657 decimal inch), with a 140-degree drill point angle and a helical, regular-spiral, two-flute geometry. The tip is held in the drill body by a clamp-style insert seat (seat size 2) and is installed and replaced by HVAC or machining technicians performing precision hole-making operations.
This replaceable tip is suited for drilling applications in steel in production and job-shop environments. The HP insert geometry is optimized for demanding conditions including drilling into inclined exit surfaces and stacked plate configurations. The KSEM platform allows fast tip changes without removing the drill body from the spindle, reducing downtime in high-volume drilling operations. No through-coolant is incorporated into this tip; external or flood coolant methods apply. It is sold individually and ships as a single unit per package.
Designed as an OEM replacement tip for KSEM-series modular drill bodies accepting insert seat size 2. The ISO number for this insert is KSEM0766HP with manufacturer grade KC7315. Specific body compatibility should be confirmed against KENNAMETAL KSEM system documentation for seat size 2 holders.
Installation is performed by machining or tool-room personnel following standard KSEM insert-change procedures. De-energize the spindle and lock out the machine before handling the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench and KSEM clamping hardware as specified by the KSEM body manufacturer documentation; do not overtighten the clamp screw freehand. Inspect the insert seat and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new tip to ensure accurate positioning and full support.
