The KENNAMETAL 1981264 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI and ISO designation BGHX15L508PCFRGG and manufacturer grade K110M. It is an uncoated, single-sided insert with an irregular shape, positive rake geometry at 30 degrees, and a sharp cutting edge style. With 2 cutting edges, a corner radius of 0.0315 inches (1/32 inch), and a maximum depth of cut of 0.4134 inches, this insert is engineered for precision milling operations. It is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians in CNC and manual milling setups using Fix-Perfect cutter series toolholders, secured via screw-holding method.
This insert is designed for use in milling cast iron and non-ferrous metals, corresponding to material grade codes K and N. It is suited for both production and job-shop environments where consistent surface finish and edge integrity are required. The BGHX series geometry and GG chip breaker designation make it appropriate for applications demanding controlled chip formation in these material categories. Right-hand cutting orientation must be confirmed against the cutter body before installation.
Designed for use with the Fix-Perfect cutter series. ANSI and ISO code BGHX15L508PCFRGG applies to both standards. Material grade C2 and C3 classifications apply. Verify cutter body compatibility and right-hand orientation before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down and locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key driver specified by the cutter body manufacturer to seat the screw-held insert; do not overtighten by feel alone — consult the toolholder documentation for fastener procedure. Confirm right-hand cutting orientation and proper seating in the pocket before resuming operation. Inspect the insert pocket for wear or debris before each insert change.
