The KENNAMETAL 1961108 is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding production environments. Built from solid carbide and coated with a multilayer TiAlN finish, this bit delivers excellent heat resistance and wear life at elevated cutting speeds. It features a 140-degree point angle with web thinning for reduced thrust and cleaner entry, a regular spiral flute for efficient chip evacuation, and a straight cylindrical shank measuring 6.00 mm in diameter. Overall length is 62.00 mm, with a flute length of 20.00 mm and a maximum drilling depth of 14.00 mm. The compact screw machine length profile suits close-tolerance work in CNC machining centers and drill presses.
This drill bit is intended for use in ferrous metal applications, with primary workpiece compatibility in cast iron and steel. The short overall length and rigid solid carbide construction make it well suited for precision hole-making operations where runout and deflection must be minimized. It is typically used by machinists and production tool-room technicians in automated or semi-automated CNC setups. Diameter tolerance is held to +0.004 to +0.016 mm, making it appropriate for close-tolerance drilling applications. It conforms to DIN 6537K specification.
Designed for drilling cast iron and steel workpieces; compatible with CNC machining centers and drill presses accepting a 6.00 mm straight cylindrical shank. Conforms to DIN 6537K specification within the Series B966 product family.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the shank is fully seated and clamped securely in the tool holder or chuck before operation. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit, so flood or mist external coolant should be used when drilling steel or cast iron to manage heat buildup. Inspect the cutting edge for wear before each use to avoid workpiece damage or tool breakage.
