The KENNAMETAL 1937544 is a TDHH-style carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in demanding machining applications. Featuring a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, this left-hand insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability when cutting steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The 60-degree triangular geometry provides three usable cutting edges per insert, and the screw-on holding method ensures secure, repeatable seating in compatible toolholders. With a positive rake angle and 15-degree relief angle, it promotes clean chip formation and reduced cutting forces on difficult workpiece materials.
This insert is suited for turning operations in CNC and manual lathe environments handling steel (P), stainless steel (M), and superalloys and titanium (S) as primary workpiece materials. It also carries secondary ratings for non-ferrous (N), steel (P), and superalloys (S) applications. The KC5010 grade and PVD TiAlN coating make it a practical choice for finishing and semi-finishing passes where edge integrity and surface finish consistency are priorities. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians working in aerospace, energy, and general precision machining will find this insert appropriate for moderate to challenging cutting conditions.
Designed for use in screw-on style left-hand turning toolholders compatible with TDHH insert geometry. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards. Primary workpiece material codes P, M, and S; secondary codes N, P, and S.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to achieve proper clamp screw torque. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamp screw threads for wear or debris before seating the insert. Follow your facility safety procedures and machine manufacturer guidelines when resuming cutting operations.
