The KENNAMETAL 1913619 is a taper length drill bit in the B978 series, engineered for high-performance drilling in cast iron and steel. Built from solid carbide with a TiAlN coating, it delivers the hardness and heat resistance needed for demanding production environments. The 132-degree point angle and web-thinned, tapered web geometry reduce entry force and improve centering accuracy. A spiral flute design promotes consistent chip evacuation. This bit is sized at 5.5 mm in diameter with a straight cylindrical shank measuring 6 mm in diameter, and it conforms to DIN 6537K. It is used by machinists and tooling professionals in CNC and manual drilling operations.
This drill bit is suited for taper-length applications in metalworking environments where standard-length bits lack the reach needed to complete the bore. It performs in both ferrous metals including cast iron and steel, making it appropriate for job-shop and production-floor use. The coolant-through design supports high-speed drilling cycles where internal coolant delivery is available, extending tool life in continuous-duty applications. The right-hand cut and straight shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks and collet holders used in machining centers and drill presses.
Rated for use in cast iron and steel applications. Designed as a DIN 6537K-compliant taper length drill bit for use in CNC machining centers and drill presses equipped with standard straight-shank toolholders or collet chucks accepting a 6 mm shank.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling professional. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before inserting or removing the bit. Confirm the collet or chuck is rated for the 6 mm shank diameter and that internal coolant supply lines are properly connected if coolant-through operation is intended. Do not exceed the maximum drilling depth of 1.89 inches as specified for this tool geometry.
