The KENNAMETAL 1910043 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VBGT2205HP geometry, grade KC5410, designed for high-precision finishing operations on aluminum and non-ferrous metals. The insert features a TiB2 (titanium diboride) PVD coating that delivers high wear resistance while maintaining a sharp cutting edge suitable for light cuts on gummy or abrasive non-ferrous workpiece materials. With a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, positive rake angle of 15 degrees, and a honed cutting edge style, it is engineered for low cutting forces and fine surface finishes. The screw-on holding method provides rigid, repeatable seating in compatible toolholders. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and tool and die technicians install this insert in production and job-shop turning environments.
This insert is intended for finishing passes on aluminum, copper, brass, and other non-ferrous metals (ISO material group N). Typical applications include turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring. The HP chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing operations with a maximum depth of cut of 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). Its positive side clearance and small corner radius of 0.0079 inches support tight tolerances and fine surface finishes. It is sold individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 5 units per order.
Designed for use in screw-on style VBGT toolholders accepting a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, 35-degree diamond insert. Conforms to ANSI insert code VBGT2205 and ISO insert code VBGT110302. Material grades C3 and C4 apply.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians following standard insert-change procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping screw to seat the insert — do not overtighten by hand. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper support and prevent premature edge failure.
