The KENNAMETAL 1878097 is a double-end neutral indexable cutoff blade engineered for precision grooving and parting-off operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Belonging to the A2 Cut-Off series, this blade measures 26mm (1.0236 inches) in height, 1.8mm (0.0709 inches) in width, and 90mm (3.5433 inches) in overall length. It accepts A2-style inserts with a 2.2mm insert width and an insert seat size of 2. The neutral cutting direction makes it suitable for both left-hand and right-hand setups. The double-end design extends usable blade life, reducing tooling cost per cut. Maximum depth of cut is 25mm (0.9800 inches), with a cutting height of 21.5mm (0.8465 inches).
This cutoff blade is intended for use in metalworking environments where consistent, repeatable parting and grooving operations are required. It is well suited for medium-production and high-production turning applications across a range of workpiece materials. Machinists and toolroom professionals working with CNC turning equipment will find this blade appropriate for bar-stock cutoff, groove turning, and face grooving where a narrow kerf width and rigid blade body are essential. The A2 series platform offers a standardized insert interface commonly found in production machining operations.
Designed for use with A2-series indexable cutoff inserts with a 2.2mm insert width and insert seat size 2, consistent with the A2 Cut-Off tooling platform. Compatible insert style designation is A2 022. Refer to KENNAMETAL tooling system documentation to confirm insert-to-blade pairing before use.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with indexable tooling systems. Secure the blade firmly in a compatible blade holder and confirm that all clamping screws are tightened to the holder manufacturer's specification before spindle engagement. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts or repositioning the blade. Do not exceed the blade's rated maximum depth of cut, and inspect the blade body for cracks or deformation before each use.
