The KENNAMETAL 1870983 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation CCMT2152LF and ISO designation CCMT060208. Coated with TiAlN via a PVD process under the KC5010 grade, this insert delivers high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. It features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, neutral hand orientation, positive rake angle of 5 degrees, positive side clearance, and a honed cutting edge style. With a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and an LF chip breaker geometry optimized for finishing and light machining, this insert suits precision-oriented turning operations. Two cutting edges are available per insert. Holding method is screw-on.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and aluminum. The KC5010 grade is rated for high to moderate wear resistance and toughness across P, M, K, N, and S workpiece material categories. It is suited to finishing and light machining passes where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are the primary objectives. Typical applications include CNC turning centers in both job-shop and production environments. It is sold individually but subject to a minimum order quantity of 5 units.
Designed for use in CCMT-style screw-on toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. Compatible with toolholders sized for a CCMT2152 (ANSI) or CCMT060208 (ISO) insert. Suitable for multi-use application across turning, facing, and boring setups on CNC and manual lathes.
Installation is performed by machining technicians or CNC setup personnel. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw; do not over-torque the screw, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excessive clamping force. Inspect the toolholder pocket and screw thread for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
