The KENNAMETAL 1869903 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CPGM3252 geometry, coated with TiAlN via a PVD process and offered in the KC5025 manufacturer grade. Designed for screw-on toolholders, it features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape, a positive rake angle of 5 degrees, and a positive side clearance. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inches (0.3750 inches), insert length is 9.67 mm (0.3808 inches), and insert thickness is 5/32 inches (0.1563 inches). The honed cutting edge style and medium machining chip breaker combine moderate wear-resistance with toughness across a broad range of workpiece materials. Two cutting edges per insert are available.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations in both production and job-shop environments. Its KC5025 grade is engineered for moderate wear-resistance and toughness on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous materials, as well as superalloys and titanium. The 1/32-inch corner radius and 80-degree included angle make it a versatile choice for general-purpose external and internal turning where consistent edge performance across varied materials is required. Licensed machinists and CNC turning center operators are the typical end users.
Designed for use in screw-on style toolholders accepting CPGM3252 (ISO: CPGM09T308) inserts with a 0.1732-inch (4.40 mm) hole diameter. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring applications. No specific toolholder model numbers were provided in the product data.
Insert seating and screw torquing should be performed according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications; do not overtighten the clamping screw. Ensure the pocket is clean and free of debris before seating the insert to maintain proper geometry and runout. Always index or replace the insert with the machine fully stopped and in a safe, locked-out state. Handling carbide inserts requires care to avoid chipping the cutting edges prior to use.
