The KENNAMETAL 1868452 is a solid carbide turning insert in the KENLOC series, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual turning applications. It carries the DNGP4305 ANSI designation and ISO code DNGP150402. The insert features a PVD-applied TiAlN coating and the KC5010 manufacturer grade, delivering high wear resistance with moderate toughness across a range of workpiece materials. The 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides strong nose geometry, and the neutral hand orientation suits a wide variety of tool holders. Corner radius measures 0.0079 inches, and the inscribed circle is 0.5 inches. Installation requires compatible DNGP-style clamp or pin-style holders.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, N, and S. The KC5010 grade and TiAlN PVD coating are optimized for medium machining chip breaker conditions, targeting applications where high wear resistance to moderate toughness is required. It is used in production and job-shop environments by machinists and CNC operators working on both light and moderate stock removal passes. Maximum depth of cut is 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm).
Designed for use in DNGP-style turning tool holders that accept clamp or pin insert retention. Conforms to ANSI and ISO insert standards for direct dimensional interchangeability with holders specifying DNGP4305 or DNGP150402 inserts.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Verify that the tool holder pocket and clamp or pin hardware are clean and undamaged before indexing to a new cutting edge. Do not exceed the specified maximum depth of cut, and confirm chip breaker selection matches the planned feed rate and workpiece material before beginning the cut.
