The KENNAMETAL 1868451 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DNGP430 configuration, coated with TiAlN via PVD process under the KC5010 grade. It features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, neutral hand orientation, and a negative rake and relief angle geometry. The inscribed circle measures 0.5 inches, insert length is 1.2208 inches, thickness is 0.1875 inches, and corner radius is 0.0039 inches. Part of the KENLOC series, this insert is designed for machinists and tooling technicians running CNC turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. The honed cutting edge and TiAlN coating deliver high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials.
This insert is suited for medium machining chip breaker applications on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloys and titanium. It carries primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, N, and S, making it versatile across general turning environments. The four cutting edges allow multiple indexing positions before the insert is retired, reducing per-edge tooling cost in production environments. Typical applications include external turning and facing on horizontal and slant-bed CNC lathes as well as boring operations requiring a negative-geometry insert held by clamp and pin method.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders accepting DNGP430 inserts. Conforms to ANSI insert code DNGP430 and ISO insert code DNGP150401, compatible with any ANSI- or ISO-standard toolholder specifying this insert geometry and size code.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine in a safe, powered-down or fully stopped state before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench or clamp screw driver per the toolholder manufacturer specifications when seating the clamp. Inspect the insert pocket and locating pin for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Follow facility lockout/tagout procedures before any tooling change on CNC equipment.
