The KENNAMETAL 1868255 is a solid carbide turning insert with a CPGM32505 industry-standard designation and KC5010 manufacturer grade. It features a PVD-applied TiAlN coating that provides high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. The insert has an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a screw-on holding method. The inscribed circle measures 0.375 inches, insert length is 0.3808 inches, and corner radius is 0.0079 inches. With two cutting edges and a positive rake angle of 5 degrees, this insert is suited for finishing to medium machining operations. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians are the primary installers.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, and boring operations. Its grade characteristics make it effective on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. The chip breaker geometry is rated for medium machining conditions with a maximum depth of cut of 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm). It is applicable in both ANSI and ISO toolholding systems, conforming to ANSI insert code CPGM32505 and ISO insert code CPGM09T302. The positive side clearance and honed cutting edge style support consistent chip control and surface finish in production turning environments.

Suitable for primary workpiece materials coded P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), N (aluminum and non-ferrous), and S (superalloys and titanium). Material grades C3 and C4 apply.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to drive the screw-on clamp screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified engagement — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excessive clamping force. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new edge.
