The KENNAMETAL 1866362 is a ceramic turning insert in the KENLOC series, designed for high-speed material removal on cast iron workpieces. It carries industry standard designation CNMA433T0820 and is manufactured from silicon nitride ceramic in the KY3500 grade, an uncoated bright-finish formulation engineered for high wear-resistance to moderate wear-resistance and toughness in cast iron applications. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a flat-top chip breaker, a T-Land cutting edge style, and a neutral hand orientation. With a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle, an insert length of 12.90 mm (0.5077 inches), and a corner radius of 3/64 inches (0.0469 inches), this insert is a precision-geometry component for turning, facing, and boring operations.
The 1866362 is suited for turning, facing, and boring of cast iron in production machining environments where consistent tool life and dimensional accuracy are required. Its negative rake geometry and negative side clearance are standard for rigid CNMA-style toolholders operating at elevated surface speeds typical of ceramic cutting. The four available cutting edges per insert and flat-top chip breaker geometry support interrupted and continuous cuts on gray, ductile, and hardened cast iron grades. This insert is intended for use by machinists and tooling technicians operating CNC lathes or manual turning centers with appropriate KENLOC-compatible toolholders.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket locating surfaces and confirm the clamp and pin are properly engaged before resuming cuts. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut specified for the insert geometry and workpiece material combination.
