The KENNAMETAL 1865531 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TPG221 geometry, coated with TiAlN via a PVD process and manufactured under the KC5010 grade designation. This triangular insert features a neutral hand orientation, a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, a 1/64-inch corner radius, and an 11-degree relief angle. The flat-top chip breaker and honed cutting edge deliver high wear resistance across a range of cutting conditions. It is designed for use in KENDEX-style toolholders secured by a clamp-style holding method. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists install these inserts in production and job-shop environments.

This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, cast iron, and aluminum. The KC5010 grade provides high-to-moderate wear resistance combined with adequate toughness, making it effective for finishing and light-to-moderate material removal rates. The positive rake and positive side clearance geometry reduce cutting forces and minimize heat buildup at the edge. Three usable cutting edges per insert are available, lowering per-edge tooling cost in volume applications.
