Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 1849052 is a DPGR432-style carbide profiling insert in the Top Notch series, grade KC5010, designed for turning and profiling operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a parallelogram shape with a 55-degree included angle, 8-degree relief angle, and a 5-degree positive rake angle. The AlTiN PVD coating delivers heat and wear resistance suited to high-speed cutting. With a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0312-inch (0.79 mm) corner radius, this insert provides consistent edge geometry on demanding cuts. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators using a clamp-style insert holding method.

This insert is rated for use on a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It carries ISO material grade designations P10, P20, M10, M20, K05, K10, K15, K20, N10, N20, S10, S20, and H10, making it a versatile choice across general turning, finish profiling, and contour turning applications in both production and job-shop environments. The neutral hand orientation and common chipbreaker geometry support flexible setup configurations.

Key Features

  • DPGR432 insert style with parallelogram shape and 55-degree included angle
  • KC5010 grade with AlTiN PVD coating for extended tool life on steel and stainless
  • Positive rake geometry (5-degree rake angle) reduces cutting forces
  • 0.0312-inch (0.79 mm) corner radius for controlled surface finish in profiling
  • Maximum depth of cut of 0.2035 inches supports both light and moderate passes
  • Two cutting edges per insert; neutral hand for flexible orientation
  • Compatible with ISO code DCGR150408 and ANSI standard DPGR432

Compatibility

Conforms to ANSI standard DPGR432 and ISO code DCGR150408. Designed for clamp-style toolholders accepting DPGR432 or DCGR150408 inserts in the Top Notch series. Suitable for steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), non-ferrous (N), superalloys and titanium (S), and hard materials (H) per ISO workpiece material classification.

Installation Notes

Install and replace carbide inserts with the machine spindle fully stopped and all axes locked. Use the appropriate clamp and torque wrench specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the insert. Handle carbide inserts with care to avoid chipping the cutting edge prior to use. Proper insert seating and clamp engagement should be verified before resuming cutting operations.
