The KENNAMETAL 1849051 is a carbide profiling and turning insert in the DPGR431 geometry, manufactured to ISO code DCGR150404. It carries the KC5010 manufacturer grade with an AlTiN coating applied via PVD process. The insert features a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, a 3/16-inch thickness, and a 0.40 mm (0.0156-inch) corner radius. The parallelogram-shaped body provides a positive rake angle of 5 degrees and an 8-degree relief angle, delivering controlled chip formation across a wide range of workpiece materials. Two cutting edges are available per insert, and the clamp-style holding method suits standard Top Notch series toolholders. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists install this insert in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is designed for profiling and external turning operations. It is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, K, N, S, and H. Applicable material grades span P10, P20, M10, M20, K05, K10, K15, K20, N10, N20, S10, S20, and H10. The maximum depth of cut reaches 0.2035 inches, making it appropriate for both finishing and light roughing passes in turning centers and CNC lathes.
Designed for use with Top Notch series clamp-style toolholders accepting DPGR431 inserts. Also listed under ISO standard DCGR150404. Compatible with steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, N, S, and H.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Before indexing or replacing the insert, power down the machine and verify the spindle is fully stopped. Seat the insert firmly in the pocket and tighten the clamp to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or debris before each use to ensure correct seating and secure retention.
