The KENNAMETAL 1832361 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VNMG332MP geometry, coated with TiAlN via a PVD process and graded KC5010 within the KENLOC series. The insert features a 35-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The chamfered and honed cutting edge combined with the MP chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation in medium to semi-finish turning operations. With four cutting edges per insert, this grade targets steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, making it a versatile option for production turning environments where tool life and surface finish consistency are priorities.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring applications across CNC lathes and turning centers in both job shop and production settings. Primary workpiece material codes are P (steel), M (stainless steel), and S (superalloys and titanium), with secondary compatibility noted for N and additional P and S classifications. The KC5010 grade with PVD TiAlN coating is particularly effective at moderate-to-elevated cutting speeds where thermal resistance and edge toughness are required. Professionals machining aerospace alloys, stainless components, or general steel parts will find this insert appropriate for those demanding cutting conditions.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders accepting VNMG-style inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and clamp-and-pin holding method. Compatible with workpiece materials designated under ISO material codes P, M, and S. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and insert seat dimensions before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all energy is locked out before changing inserts. Seat the insert firmly against the pocket walls before engaging the clamp and pin; do not overtighten the clamping screw beyond the toolholder specification. Inspect the insert seat and pocket for chips or debris before each index to maintain accurate edge positioning and prevent premature insert failure.
