The KENNAMETAL 1832353 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation SNMG644MP and ISO designation SNMG190616, designed for general-purpose external and internal turning operations. Coated with TiAlN via a PVD process, this insert carries the KC5010 grade and delivers high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloys. The insert features a 90-degree square shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 3/4-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/16-inch corner radius. The MP chip breaker geometry targets roughing and medium machining applications. Licensed HVAC and machining professionals install this insert using standard KENLOC-style clamp and pin toolholders.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations in both production and job-shop environments. Its TiAlN PVD coating and KC5010 grade make it particularly effective when machining steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), aluminum and non-ferrous materials (N), and superalloys and titanium (S). The chamfered and honed cutting edge style supports consistent chip control during medium to heavy material removal. With 8 cutting edges available per insert, it delivers strong value in high-volume turning programs where insert change frequency is a cost factor.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and direct-fit insert for KENLOC-series toolholders accepting SNMG644 inserts with clamp or pin retention. Industry Standard Number SNMG644MP is interchangeable across ANSI and ISO standard toolholder seats dimensioned for the SNMG190616 insert size.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Before indexing or replacing inserts, confirm the machine spindle is stopped and locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and torque the clamp or pin fastener per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edge and chip breaker for damage before resuming cutting operations.
