The KENNAMETAL 1818010 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Top Notch series, designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Designated style NG2094K with grade KC5025, this insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability in interrupted and continuous cuts. It is configured for left-hand cutting with a 2.39 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 2.79 mm. The positive rake angle of 10 degrees and K-style chip breaker support controlled chip evacuation in medium to finish turning applications. Machinists and tooling specialists working in production environments will find this insert suited to tight-tolerance grooving work.
This insert is intended for use in CNC turning and grooving applications where precise groove geometry and consistent performance are required. The NG insert style is compatible with Top Notch series toolholders designed for NG-style inserts. The left-hand configuration makes it appropriate for right-to-left grooving operations on the workpiece. The KC5025 grade is generally applied to a range of workpiece materials including steels and cast irons where PVD-coated carbide performs reliably. This insert is sold individually per package, with a minimum order quantity of 5 units.
Designed for use with Top Notch series toolholders accepting NG-style grooving inserts. Verify toolholder designation against the NG2094K insert style before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Disengage the machine spindle and confirm all motion has stopped before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamping screw specified for the Top Notch toolholder to secure the insert without over-tightening. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before seating the insert to ensure proper contact and alignment.
