The KENNAMETAL 1803018 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CPMT2152FW geometry, manufactured in grade KC5010 with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating. This screw-on insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a neutral hand orientation, a positive rake angle of 5 degrees, and an 11-degree relief angle with positive side clearance. The FW chip breaker is designed for wiper finishing operations, allowing higher feed rates while maintaining fine surface finish. The honed cutting edge style and TiAlN coating provide high wear resistance across steel, stainless steel, and cast iron applications. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists install this insert in production and job-shop turning centers.
This insert is suited for external turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and cast iron workpieces. Its wiper geometry makes it a strong choice for finishing passes where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical. The insert meets both ANSI and ISO standards, carrying ANSI code CPMT2152 and ISO code CPMT060208, making it straightforward to cross-reference for toolholder compatibility. The KC5010 grade is rated for high to moderate wear resistance and toughness across P, M, K, N, and S workpiece material categories. Each package contains one insert, with a minimum order quantity of five units per order.
Designed for use in screw-on style CPMT toolholders conforming to ANSI size code 2152 and ISO size code 060208. Verify toolholder bore diameter accommodates the 0.1102-inch (2.80 mm) mounting hole before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the manufacturer-recommended torque driver for the screw-on fastener — do not over-torque, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the toolholder seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating the new insert.
