The KENNAMETAL 1803014 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT2151FW geometry, grade KC5010, designed for precision finishing operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a TiAlN PVD coating that delivers high wear resistance across a broad range of cutting conditions. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides a strong cutting edge geometry suited to general turning, facing, and boring. The inscribed circle measures 0.25 inches, insert length is 0.2539 inches (6.45 mm), insert thickness is 0.0938 inches, and the corner radius is 0.0156 inches (1/64 inch). The FW chip breaker is a wiper-finishing geometry with a positive rake angle of 5 degrees and a honed cutting edge. Two usable cutting edges are provided per insert. The insert is held by a screw-on method.
This insert is engineered for finishing and light-to-moderate material removal on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The KC5010 grade is rated for high to moderate wear resistance and toughness across P, M, K, N, and S workpiece material categories. The wiper edge geometry produces improved surface finish at standard feed rates, making it suitable for tight-tolerance turning applications in aerospace, energy, and general machining environments. Multi-use applications include turning, facing, and boring. Installation is performed by toolroom machinists and CNC operators using standard screw-on insert toolholders compatible with CCMT geometry seats.
Designed for use in screw-on style CCMT toolholders accepting the CCMT2151 (ANSI) or CCMT060204 (ISO) insert geometry. Compatible with toolholder systems specifying a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, 3/32-inch insert thickness, and a 2.80 mm screw hole diameter. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring applications on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, superalloys, and titanium workpieces.
This insert is installed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torque driver and screw supplied or specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excess clamping force. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert.
