The KENNAMETAL 1798244 is a replaceable-tip drill body engineered for precision hole-making in metalworking and machining operations. Designed around the KSEM platform, this drill body accepts KSEM0563 insert tips at an Insert Seat Size B, allowing fast tip changes without removing the body from the spindle. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 19.05 mm in diameter and the tool reaches an overall length of 212.73 mm, with a maximum drill depth of 142.88 mm at a 10xD depth-to-diameter ratio. Drill diameter range is 14.29 to 14.5 mm (0.5626 to 0.5709 inches). This tool is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators in production environments.
The 1798244 is suited for high-production drilling applications in CNC machining centers and turning centers where repeatable hole geometry and fast insert indexing are priorities. The 10xD depth capability makes it appropriate for deep-hole applications in steel, cast iron, and similar machinable alloys. The straight-cylindrical shank interfaces directly with standard drill chucks, hydraulic chucks, and shrink-fit toolholders sized for a 19.05 mm bore. This drill body is used in aerospace, automotive, die-and-mold, and general metalworking shops.
Designed for use with KSEM0563 series replaceable drill tip inserts at Insert Seat Size B within the KENNAMETAL KSEM drill body platform. Fits standard 19.05 mm straight-cylindrical toolholders including drill chucks, hydraulic chucks, and shrink-fit holders with a matching bore.
Installation and tip changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician following the machine tool manufacturer lockout and energy-isolation procedures before handling. Confirm the toolholder bore matches the 19.05 mm shank diameter and that the toolholder is rated for the intended spindle speeds and feed rates. Seat the KSEM0563 insert tip fully before torquing the retention screw to the insert manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert seat and shank for chips, burrs, or coolant passage obstructions prior to each tool setup.
