The KENNAMETAL 1796110 is a carbide threading insert in the Top Notch series, designed for both internal and external thread cutting operations. Coated with TiAlN via a PVD process, the KC5025 grade insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding threading applications. The insert covers a partial profile 60-degree thread standard, handling external pitches from 1.25 to 6.25 mm (4 to 20 TPI) and internal pitches from 2.00 to 6.25 mm (4 to 12 TPI). With a corner radius of 0.17 mm and a tip-to-top dimension of 3.25 mm, it is suited for precision thread form generation on a range of workpiece materials including C2 and C6 material grades. Machinists and tooling specialists install this insert into compatible Top Notch toolholders.
This insert is applied in CNC turning centers and manual lathes where consistent thread form accuracy is required on both internal bores and external diameters. Right-hand cutting orientation makes it a standard fit for the majority of threading cycles. The partial profile 60-degree geometry covers Unified and metric thread forms, making it a versatile option across general machining, production threading, and repair threading work in industrial and job shop environments. It is sold individually but subject to a minimum order quantity of 5 pieces.
Designed for use with KENNAMETAL Top Notch series toolholders that accept NTP4R style inserts. Verify toolholder seat and clamping configuration before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured before seating or removing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or clamping key specified for the Top Notch toolholder to avoid over-torquing the clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
