The KENNAMETAL 1793764 is an A2 series carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a KC5025 manufacturer grade with a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability in interrupted and continuous cut-off applications. The insert measures 2.2 mm in cutting width (0.0866 inches) and 4.66 mm in cutting height (0.1835 inches), with a 6-degree right-hand lead angle and a 2-degree relief angle. A CM chipbreaker geometry controls chip flow during parting operations. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible A2-style cutoff toolholders using a clamp-style holding method.
This insert is suited for cut-off and parting applications across a range of workpiece materials corresponding to material grades C2 and C6. It is typically used in production turning environments handling steel, cast iron, and similar machinable alloys. The right-hand lead angle configuration directs cutting forces in standard front-mount parting setups. The CM chipbreaker geometry aids chip evacuation in moderate-depth parting cuts on both manual and CNC turning equipment. This is a single insert sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use with A2 series clamp-style cutoff toolholders accepting insert seat size 2. Specific toolholder compatibility should be confirmed against KENNAMETAL A2 series toolholder specifications before installation.
Installation and replacement of cutoff inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down, spindle locked, and all energy sources isolated per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Use the manufacturer-specified clamp screw and torque driver for the A2 series seat to ensure proper insert seating. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating the new insert. Never attempt to reseat or adjust an insert while the machine is running.
