The KENNAMETAL 1786056 is a replaceable-tip drill body from the KSEM series, designed for precision hole-making in metalworking and machining operations. It accepts KSEM0500 insert tips at an insert seat size C, covering a drilling diameter range of 12.7 to 13.2 mm (0.5000 to 0.5197 inches). The body features a 19.05 mm straight-cylindrical shank and an overall length of 130.18 mm (5.1252 inches). Through-coolant capability is built in via a 3.50 mm (0.1378 inch) coolant hole, supporting chip evacuation and tool life at elevated feed rates. This tool body is sized for machining centers and CNC lathes in production shop environments and is installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
The 1786056 drill body is suited for high-volume production drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where repeatable hole quality is required. The replaceable-tip design eliminates the need to replace the full drill body when the cutting edge wears, reducing tooling cost per hole. With a 5xD depth-to-diameter ratio and a maximum drill depth of 63.5 mm (2.5000 inches), it handles moderate deep-hole applications in a single pass on properly configured machining centers. The 19.05 mm straight-cylindrical shank interfaces with standard ER or hydraulic toolholders commonly found in CNC machining setups.
Compatible with KSEM0500 series replaceable drill tip inserts at insert seat size C. Designed for use within the KENNAMETAL KSEM drill system on CNC machining centers equipped with straight-cylindrical toolholders sized for a 19.05 mm shank.
Installation and insert changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, tagged-out state per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert tip securely according to the torque requirements specified in the KENNAMETAL KSEM tooling documentation included with the insert. Verify coolant ports are clear and coolant pressure is appropriate for the application before running. Do not exceed the recommended depth or feed parameters for the insert grade in use.
