The KENNAMETAL 1785750 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation CPGT2152HP and manufacturer grade KC5410. It carries a PVD-applied TiB2 coating optimized for aluminum and non-ferrous metal machining, delivering high wear resistance across finishing operations. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a positive rake angle of 15 degrees, and a positive side clearance, making it well-suited for light, precise cuts. With a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, a 0.0313-inch corner radius, and an insert length of 6.45 mm (0.2539 inches), this is a compact, precision-ground insert intended for CNC turning centers and manual lathes operated by machinists and toolroom technicians.
This insert is designed for finishing operations in turning, facing, and boring applications on non-ferrous workpiece materials, including aluminum alloys, copper, and similar materials in the N material group. The HP chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip flow at finishing depths of cut up to 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). It mounts via the screw-on holding method standard to CPGT-style toolholders. Applications are typically found in production machining environments, job shops, and precision component manufacturing where tight surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required.
Designed for use in CPGT-style screw-on toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. Compatible with toolholders accepting a CPGT2152 (ANSI) or CPGT060208 (ISO) insert seat. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring operations on aluminum and non-ferrous metals.
Installation is performed by machinists and toolroom technicians using the appropriate Torx or hex key for the screw-on clamping mechanism. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or damage before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut specified for the HP chip breaker geometry, as overloading a finishing insert can cause premature edge failure.
