The KENNAMETAL 1785719 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNGP433 geometry, finished with a PVD-applied TiB2 coating and assigned manufacturer grade KC5410. Part of the KENLOC series, this insert is engineered for high wear-resistance to moderate wear-resistance and toughness when cutting aluminum and other non-ferrous metals. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides a strong cutting edge geometry. The insert measures 12.9 mm (0.5077 inches) in length, features a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 3/64-inch (0.0469-inch) corner radius, and a 3/16-inch (0.1875-inch) thickness. It is a neutral-hand insert with a negative rake and negative side clearance, held via clamp and pin. Each insert delivers four usable cutting edges.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on non-ferrous metals, particularly aluminum. The medium-machining chip breaker geometry and honed cutting edge style make it appropriate for moderate material removal rates where surface finish and tool life consistency are priorities. The maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). Technicians and machinists running CNC lathes or manual turning centers in production and job-shop environments will find this insert applicable to aluminum alloy and general non-ferrous workpiece applications. Sold individually; minimum order quantity is 5 inserts.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series and compatible clamp-and-pin toolholders accepting CNGP-style inserts with ANSI size code 433 and ISO size code 120412. Verify toolholder bore diameter compatibility with the 0.2031-inch (5.20 mm) hole diameter before installation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert seating tools specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not use makeshift tools that could crack the carbide or damage the clamp. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
