The KENNAMETAL 1785479 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation CCGT3252HP and ISO designation CCGT09T308, coated with TiAlN via a PVD process. Manufactured to grade KC5010, this insert is engineered for finishing operations and carries a positive rake angle of 15 degrees with a honed cutting edge for clean, precise cuts. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape and positive side clearance geometry make it well suited for light, accurate passes in steel, stainless steel, and superalloy applications. It features a screw-on holding method and delivers two usable cutting edges per insert. Neutral hand orientation allows use in a range of tool holders.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, and boring operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers in production and job-shop environments. Its KC5010 grade targets high to moderate wear-resistance across steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), aluminum and non-ferrous (N), and superalloys and titanium (S) workpiece categories. The HP chip breaker is optimized for finishing passes with a maximum depth of cut of 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers of this insert type.
Designed as an OEM-style screw-on turning insert for tool holders accepting CCGT3252 (ANSI) or CCGT09T308 (ISO) insert geometry. Suitable for use across multiple workpiece material categories including steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), non-ferrous metals (N), and superalloys and titanium (S).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully and evenly in the pocket before tightening the clamping screw to manufacturer specifications using the appropriate torx or hex key. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping hardware for wear or debris before each insert change to ensure accurate seating and safe cutting performance.
