The KENNAMETAL 1785475 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DCGT2152HP configuration, coated with TiAlN via a PVD process and graded KC5010. It carries a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape, a positive rake geometry with a 15-degree rake angle, and a honed cutting edge for finishing operations. The insert seats via a screw-on holding method, offers two cutting edges, and delivers high to moderate wear resistance across steel, stainless steel, and cast iron applications. With an inscribed circle of 0.25 inches and a corner radius of 0.0313 inches, it is sized for precise, light-depth finishing cuts in CNC turning centers and manual lathes.
This insert is suited for finishing passes in turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. Primary workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), aluminum and non-ferrous materials (N), and superalloys and titanium (S). The HP chip breaker geometry is optimized for tight chip control during finishing cuts, making it a practical choice for aerospace, medical, and precision machining environments where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical. It conforms to ANSI insert code DCGT2152 and ISO insert code DCGT070208.
Designed for use in screw-on style turning toolholders accepting DCGT2152 inserts per ANSI and ISO standards. Compatible with multi-use applications including turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring. Verify toolholder seat geometry and screw size before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque screwdriver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the screw-on clamp without over-torquing the insert pocket. Inspect the insert seat and clamp screw for chips or debris before seating a fresh insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
