The KENNAMETAL 1785287 is a replaceable-tip drill body in the KSEM series, designed for precision hole-making in metal cutting applications. It accepts KSEM1350 inserts at insert seat size C, allowing tip replacement without discarding the body. The drill covers a diameter range of 13.49 to 13.5 mm (0.5311 to 0.5315 inches) and reaches a maximum drill depth of 67.47 mm (2.66 inches), following a 5xD depth-to-diameter ratio. Overall length is 155.58 mm (6.13 inches). Through-coolant capability is built in, with NPT coolant holes at both the body side and shank end, threaded at 1/8-27. Machining centers operators and CNC setup technicians working in production environments are the primary users of this tool body.
This drill body is suited for production drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where repeatable hole quality and tool-body longevity are priorities. The Weldon flat shank measures 19.05 mm in diameter and fits standard Weldon-style tool holders commonly found on CNC machining centers. The 5xD depth ratio and through-coolant design make it appropriate for deeper hole applications where chip evacuation and heat management are critical. It is well-matched to high-volume production cells requiring fast tip changes at the machine.
Compatible with KSEM1350 series inserts at insert seat size C. Fits Weldon flat tool holders sized for a 19.05 mm shank diameter. Part of the KENNAMETAL KSEM replaceable-tip drill platform.
Installation and setup should be performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians familiar with replaceable-tip drill systems. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is secured in the appropriate torquing fixture before inserting or removing the drill body. Confirm coolant port alignment with the machine spindle coolant supply before tightening the tool holder. Follow the insert manufacturer torque specifications printed in the KSEM tooling documentation when seating KSEM1350 inserts.
