The KENNAMETAL 1785284 is a replaceable-tip drill body in the KSEM series, designed for high-productivity hole-making in metal cutting applications. It accepts KSEM0500 style inserts in an Insert Seat Size C configuration, allowing tip replacement without removing the body from the machine. The drill covers a diameter range of 12.7 to 13.2 mm (0.5000 to 0.5197 inches) and reaches a maximum drilling depth of 63.5 mm (2.5 inches), representing a 5xD depth-to-diameter ratio. Through-coolant delivery is supported via 1/8-27 NPT ports at both the shank end and body side, helping to control heat and clear chips at depth. The shank is a 19.05 mm Weldon Flat design, providing positive rotational drive in compatible toolholders. Overall length is 150.8 mm (5.937 inches). This body is installed and maintained by CNC machinists and toolroom technicians.

This drill body is suited for medium-diameter hole-making in steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar workpiece materials on CNC machining centers and turning centers equipped with live tooling. The 5xD depth ratio makes it appropriate for through-holes and blind holes in structural and component machining. The replaceable-tip design reduces tooling cost per hole by allowing insert indexing without disturbing the qualified shank setup. Installation Notes
