The KENNAMETAL 1712557 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for internal UN thread cutting at 18 threads per inch (TPI). Manufactured to ISO code LT11NR18UNCB and coated with TiAlN via a PVD process, this right-hand insert delivers wear resistance and heat stability across a range of demanding workpiece materials. It features a 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) inscribed circle and a 3.04 mm thickness (0.1260 decimal inch). The KC5025 grade is engineered for threading operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. Installation is performed by qualified machinists in CNC turning or manual lathe applications.
This insert is suited for internal threading operations on a range of materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The NR insert style and CB chipbreaker designation make it appropriate for controlled-chip threading on both production and job-shop turning equipment. It is configured for right-hand cutting direction and conforms to UN thread standards, making it a standard choice for unified national thread form generation in precision machining environments.
Designed for use in toolholders accepting LT11-style laydown threading inserts with NR geometry. Compatible workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), superalloys, and titanium (S) per ISO material classification codes provided in the product specifications.
This insert is installed and replaced by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the lathe or turning center before seating or removing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or insert-clamping wrench specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert without over-torquing the clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket for wear, chips, or debris before installing a new insert to ensure proper seating and thread accuracy.
