The KENNAMETAL 1623194 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation CCGT3252HP and ISO designation CCGT09T308, coated with titanium diboride (TiB2) via a PVD coating process. It features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a positive rake angle of 15 degrees, and a 7-degree relief angle with positive side clearance. The KC5410 grade is engineered for high wear resistance on aluminum and non-ferrous materials, making it well suited for finishing operations. The screw-on holding method and honed cutting edge style support consistent, repeatable performance in production turning environments. This insert is installed and replaced by machinists and tool crib technicians on CNC and manual lathes.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, and boring operations on non-ferrous metals, including aluminum alloys, copper, brass, and similar materials classified under ISO material group N. With a chip breaker designation of HP optimized for finishing cuts, it is appropriate for applications requiring tight surface finish tolerances and low depth-of-cut passes. The maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). The neutral hand orientation and two available cutting edges make it a practical choice for standard right-hand and left-hand tool holders configured for CCGT-style inserts in high-speed finishing passes.
Designed for use in screw-on style tool holders accepting CCGT3252 (ANSI) or CCGT09T308 (ISO) inserts with a 0.1732-inch (4.40 mm) hole diameter. Suitable for multi-use applications including turning, facing, and boring on non-ferrous metal workpieces. Meets ANSI and ISO standards as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is secured before seating or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to tighten the screw-on fastener to the tool holder manufacturer's specified torque; do not over-tighten, as this can fracture the carbide body. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before each insert change to maintain accurate positioning.
