The KENNAMETAL 1616100 is a replaceable-tip drill body engineered for precision hole-making in metalworking and machining applications. It accepts KSEM1313 insert tips at an insert seat size of 9, covering a drill diameter range of 33.35 to 34.35 mm (1.313 to 1.3524 inches). Maximum drill depth reaches 102.11 mm (4.02 inches), corresponding to a 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio. The shank is a 38.1 mm (1.5 inch) Weldon Flat design, providing positive rotational drive and reliable tool holding in standard Weldon-style chucks. Through-coolant capability is built in, directing coolant directly to the cutting zone to manage heat and chip evacuation during deep-hole drilling operations. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments are the primary users of this tool body.
This drill body is suited for medium-to-large diameter hole-making in ferrous and non-ferrous materials on CNC machining centers and horizontal boring mills. The KSEM series platform allows the operator to replace worn insert tips without discarding the body, reducing tooling cost per hole in high-volume production runs. The 3xD depth rating covers the majority of through-hole and blind-hole applications in structural, automotive, energy, and general metalworking part families. Coolant is supplied both through the body side and the shank end, with NPT-threaded ports at both locations for easy hookup to machine coolant systems.
Designed for use with KSEM1313 replaceable drill tip inserts at insert seat size 9 within the KENNAMETAL KSEM series platform. Compatible with machine tool spindles and tool holders accepting a 38.1 mm Weldon Flat shank.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before loading or removing the tool body from the holder. Secure the Weldon Flat shank in a properly sized Weldon-style chuck or tool holder and confirm that set screws bear fully against the flat to prevent axial pullout under thrust loads. Verify coolant supply line connections at the appropriate NPT ports before initiating a cutting cycle, and confirm that insert tips are fully seated and clamped to the specified torque listed in the KENNAMETAL KSEM tooling documentation before use.
