The KENNAMETAL 1599082 is a solid carbide turning insert carrying the industry standard designation WNMG432MP1 in the KC5010 grade. It features a physical vapor deposition (PVD) TiAlN coating engineered for high wear-resistance with moderate toughness across steel, stainless steel, and cast iron applications. The insert has an 80-degree trigon (W) shape with a neutral hand orientation and a negative rake angle of 6 degrees. With six usable cutting edges and an MP1 chip breaker geometry, this insert delivers consistent chip control during turning, facing, and boring operations. It belongs to the KENLOC series and conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards.
This insert is suited for CNC turning centers and manual lathes performing external turning, facing, and boring on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The KC5010 grade with TiAlN PVD coating is optimized for ISO material groups P, M, K, N, and S, covering a broad range of production and job-shop machining scenarios. The MP1 chip breaker geometry handles light to moderate depths of cut, making it appropriate for finishing and semi-finishing passes where surface integrity and edge life are priorities. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and toolroom technicians are the primary installers.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert conforming to ANSI designation WNMG432 and ISO designation WNMG080402, fitting toolholders engineered for W-shape negative-rake trigon inserts with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and clamp or pin clamping method.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine in a full stop and lockout-tagout procedures observed. Use the appropriate torque wrench and seating tool specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the clamp or pin to avoid seat damage. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut specified for this insert geometry.
