The KENNAMETAL 1591922 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for precision hole-making in demanding materials. Ground to a 130-degree point angle with web thinning, it cuts cleanly in cast iron, aluminum, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys. The TiAlN coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection at elevated cutting speeds. With a 0.1730-inch (No. 17 wire gauge) diameter and three-flute spiral geometry conforming to DIN 6537L, this drill is built for production environments where dimensional accuracy and tool life are priorities. It is installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in CNC drilling and conventional drilling operations.
This jobber drill suits applications requiring consistent hole tolerances in cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. The 3/16-inch straight cylindrical shank fits standard collet chucks, drill chucks, and toolholders across CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills. With a maximum drilling depth of 1.13 inches and a flute length of 1.38 inches, it is sized for jobber-length through-hole and blind-hole work in medium-production and job-shop settings.
Designed as an OEM-specification solid carbide jobber drill compatible with standard straight-shank collet chucks, drill chucks, and ER-style toolholders accepting a 3/16-inch (0.1875-inch) shank diameter.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist. Secure the shank fully in the toolholder and verify runout before cutting to maintain the stated diameter tolerance of +0.0002 to +0.0006 inches. Carbide tooling is brittle — avoid side loads, interrupted cuts without appropriate feed reduction, and contact with hardened surfaces beyond the rated material grade. Always follow machine guarding and PPE requirements per applicable shop safety standards.
