The KENNAMETAL 1560808 is a solid carbide turning insert with a TiB2 PVD coating, designed for high-wear-resistance machining of aluminum and non-ferrous metals. It follows the ANSI/ISO insert code SNMS643 and belongs to the KENLOC series. The insert has a 90-degree square shape with a 3/4-inch inscribed circle, a 1/4-inch thickness, and a 3/64-inch (0.0469 inch) corner radius. The KC5410 grade delivers high to moderate wear resistance with toughness, making it a reliable choice for production turning of non-ferrous workpieces. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working with aluminum, copper, and similar materials will find this insert well-matched to medium machining chip-breaker demands.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on non-ferrous metals in both production and job-shop environments. The negative rake geometry and SNMS insert style pair with standard KENLOC toolholders using clamp-and-pin holding methods. The maximum depth of cut is 0.0492 inch (1.25 mm), which positions this insert for finishing and light semi-finishing passes on aluminum and other N-category workpiece materials. It offers 8 usable cutting edges per insert, improving cost-per-edge economics in high-volume applications.
Designed for use in KENLOC series toolholders that accept SNMS-style square inserts with clamp-and-pin holding. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring operations on non-ferrous metals. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and insert seating before use.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine fully stopped and de-energized before changing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not over-tighten the clamping screw, as this can chip the insert or damage the pocket seat. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating the insert. Confirm insert orientation matches the required neutral hand configuration for the programmed tool path.
