The KENNAMETAL 1560756 is a solid carbide turning insert designated TPGT2151HP in the KC5410 grade, designed for high-precision finishing operations on aluminum and non-ferrous metals. Coated with titanium diboride (TiB2) via a PVD process, this insert delivers high wear resistance with the toughness needed for finishing passes. The triangular (60-degree) geometry features a positive rake angle of 15 degrees and a positive side clearance, promoting clean chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. With an inscribed circle of 0.2500 inches and a corner radius of 0.0156 inches (1/64 inches), it is suited to tight-tolerance turning, facing, and boring applications.
This insert is intended for use in CNC turning centers and manual lathes where the primary workpiece material is non-ferrous metal, including aluminum alloys, copper, and similar materials. The HP chip breaker is optimized for finishing cuts, and the screw-on holding method ensures positive clamping in compatible toolholders. Typical applications include light finishing passes in production turning, facing operations, and boring on non-ferrous components. The insert offers three usable cutting edges per insert, supporting efficient tool life management in shop environments.
Designed for use in screw-on style toolholders accepting TPGT-style inserts with an ANSI size code of 2151 and ISO size code 110204. Verify holder pocket specifications before installation. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring of non-ferrous and aluminum workpieces.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the toolholder pocket and torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified value using the appropriate Torx or hex key. Inspect the cutting edge and coating condition before each use and index or replace the insert when wear exceeds acceptable limits for the application.
