The KENNAMETAL 1560693 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision machining of aluminum and non-ferrous metals. Identified by the industry standard code CPGT32505HP, it carries the KC5410 grade and features a PVD-applied TiB2 (titanium diboride) coating engineered for high wear resistance. The insert has an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a neutral hand orientation, a positive rake angle of 15 degrees, and a honed cutting edge style. With an inscribed circle of 0.375 inches and a corner radius of 0.0079 inches, it is sized for finishing operations requiring tight tolerances. Two cutting edges are available per insert.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on non-ferrous workpiece materials including aluminum alloys and other N-group materials. It is mounted via the screw-on (Screw) holding method and is intended for finishing-class chip loads. The HP chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation at light depths of cut, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm). Typical applications include CNC lathe work and horizontal boring mill operations where surface finish and dimensional accuracy on non-ferrous components are the primary objectives. This insert is manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards.
Designed for use in screw-on style toolholders accepting CPGT-type inserts per ANSI size code 32505 and ISO size code 09T302. Compatible with turning, facing, and boring applications on non-ferrous and aluminum workpiece materials (ISO material group N).
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician using the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the clamp screw to the toolholder specification. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured in the turret before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's recommended clamping torque procedure to avoid insert movement or edge chipping during the cut.
