The KENNAMETAL 1528349 is an indexable insert drill engineered for general-purpose drilling applications in machining and metalworking environments. Designed around the DFT drill body series, it accepts two DFT06T3 insert-style inserts and delivers a maximum drill depth of 3.3 inches at a 2.5xD depth-to-diameter ratio. The drill body has a nominal diameter of 33.3mm with a maximum drill diameter of 36.51mm (1.437 inches). The 1-1/4 inch straight shank with Weldon flat and flange mount provides positive drive and secure tool holding. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and heat management during extended cuts. This tool is intended for use by machinists and toolroom professionals in CNC and manual machining setups.
The 1528349 is suited for right-hand drilling operations in production and job-shop environments. Its general-purpose performance rating makes it appropriate for a wide range of workpiece materials encountered in standard drilling cycles. The axial concentric coolant entry design (style code 1) delivers coolant directly to the cutting zone. Body side coolant hole thread size is 1/8-27 inches and shank end coolant hole thread size is 1/4-18 inches. The overall tool length of 8.125 inches and body length of 4.875 inches accommodate typical spindle-to-work clearances in vertical machining centers and drill presses.
Compatible with DFT-style indexable inserts using insert size code 06T3 (insert size 6.62mm x 3.75mm). Insert lock screw specification is M3.5-0.6x8.3 T15. Designed for use with DFT series insert style DFT06T3.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for toolholder torque and runout specifications. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts or mounting the drill body. Verify coolant line connections at both the body side and shank end ports before initiating a cut. Follow applicable shop safety standards for indexable tooling changeouts and insert handling.
