The KENNAMETAL 1505188 is a replaceable-tip drill body in the KSEM series, designed for high-productivity hole-making in metalworking applications. It accepts KSEM1000 series inserts at Insert Seat Size 5, allowing tip replacement without removing the body from the machine. The drill covers a diameter range of 25.4 to 25.9 mm (1.0000 to 1.0197 inches) and achieves a maximum drill depth of 130 mm (5.12 inches), corresponding to a 5xD depth-to-diameter ratio. Overall length is 260.35 mm (10.25 inches). Through-coolant delivery is standard, supplied via NPT-threaded coolant ports at both the body side and shank end. Licensed machinists, tool and die makers, and CNC operators in production machining environments install this tool.
The 1505188 is suited for drilling operations in medium-to-large machining centers, turning centers with driven tooling, and production drilling lines where consistent hole diameter and depth are required. The 25.4 mm Weldon Flat shank provides positive rotational drive and straightforward clamping in standard toolholders. The 5xD depth ratio makes it appropriate for deeper-hole applications such as structural components, mold bases, and heavy fabrication work. The through-coolant feature supports chip evacuation and extended tool life in steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous workpiece materials.
Compatible with KSEM1000 series replaceable-tip inserts at Insert Seat Size 5. Part of the KENNAMETAL KSEM platform. Designed for use in toolholders accepting a 25.4 mm Weldon Flat shank. No additional specific model or machine compatibility data was provided in the product record.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel familiar with rotating cutting tool assemblies. Before changing inserts or mounting the body, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped, locked out, and de-energized per site lockout/tagout procedures. Verify coolant port connections match the machine tool supply fittings before engaging through-coolant flow. Do not exceed the rated depth range or apply side loads beyond the tool body design intent, as replaceable-tip drill bodies are not designed for interpolation or plunge-milling.
