The KENNAMETAL 1505111 is a replaceable-tip drill body designed for precision hole-making in metalworking and machining applications. It accepts KSEM0688 series inserts at insert seat size 1, allowing the cutting tip to be swapped without replacing the entire tool body. The drill covers a diameter range of 17.46 to 17.96 mm (0.6874 to 0.7071 inches) with a maximum drill depth of 54 mm (2.13 inches), rated at a 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio. Through-coolant capability is standard, delivered via 1/8-27 NPT coolant ports at both the shank end and body side, supporting higher feed rates and improved chip evacuation in production environments. Machinists, tool-room technicians, and CNC operators install this body into standard machine spindles.
This drill body is suited for use in CNC machining centers, turning centers with live tooling, and conventional drilling machines where a Weldon Flat shank interface is available. The 19.05 mm Weldon Flat shank provides positive rotational drive and resist pullout under interrupted cuts or high feed conditions. Typical applications include drilling through or blind holes in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar workpiece materials in job-shop and production-floor environments where index-able tip tooling reduces per-hole tooling cost and setup time.
Designed for use with KSEM0688 series replaceable drill inserts, insert seat size 1, within the KENNAMETAL KSEM modular drill system. Requires a machine tool spindle or toolholder accepting a 19.05 mm Weldon Flat shank.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine control locked out per applicable shop safety procedures. Secure the Weldon Flat shank in a properly sized Weldon-style holder and verify set-screw torque per the toolholder manufacturer specification before running. Confirm coolant port connections are clear and coolant pressure is appropriate for the machine before initiating a cut. Inspect the insert seat for debris or damage each time a KSEM0688 tip is indexed or replaced.
