The KENNAMETAL 1329932 is a replaceable-tip drill body designed for precision hole-making in metal cutting applications. Part of the KSEM series, it accepts KSEM1250 inserts in an insert seat size 8 configuration, allowing tip replacement without removing the body from the machine. The drill covers a diameter range of 31.75 to 32 mm and achieves a maximum drilling depth of 160 mm, equating to a 5xD depth-to-diameter ratio. Through-coolant delivery via a 5.00 mm coolant hole keeps the cutting zone clear and extends insert life during production runs. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production facilities use this body for deep-hole drilling in steel, cast iron, and similar workpiece materials.
This drill body is suited for CNC machining centers and turning centers where a straight-cylindrical shank interface is standard. The 31.75 mm straight-cylindrical shank seats directly into compatible toolholders or collet chucks without an adapter. With an overall length of 285.75 mm and a flute length of 199.18 mm, the body provides the reach needed for 5xD applications while maintaining rigidity. The replaceable-tip design reduces tooling cost per hole compared to solid carbide drills by allowing insert indexing at the machine rather than returning the body to a tool crib for regrind.
Compatible with KSEM1250 series replaceable drill tip inserts at insert seat size 8. The straight-cylindrical shank is designed to seat in toolholders and collet chucks sized for a 31.75 mm shank diameter.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Confirm the toolholder bore matches the 31.75 mm shank diameter and secure to the manufacturer-recommended clamping torque for straight-cylindrical shanks. Before inserting or replacing the KSEM tip, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all energy is locked out per facility lockout-tagout procedures. Verify coolant ports are unobstructed and through-coolant pressure is set per machine and insert manufacturer guidelines before running the first hole.
