The KENNAMETAL 1310839 is a solid carbide turning insert with a CPGT2150LF geometry and KC5010 grade, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC turning, facing, and boring operations. The insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, delivering high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. It has an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a positive rake angle of 5 degrees, and a relief angle of 11 degrees. The corner radius measures 0.0039 inches and the inscribed circle is 0.25 inches. With a honed cutting edge style and LF chip breaker geometry, this insert targets finishing and light machining applications. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in screw-on style toolholders.
This insert is suited for finishing and light machining passes on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium (material codes P, M, K, N, and S). The KC5010 grade provides high to moderate wear resistance combined with adequate toughness for these material groups. The neutral hand orientation and positive side clearance make it adaptable across standard screw-on CPGT-style tooling setups used in both production turning and job-shop boring and facing operations. Maximum depth of cut is 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm), confirming its role in light finishing work rather than heavy roughing.
Designed as a screw-on style CPGT turning insert compatible with toolholders accepting CPGT21502 (ANSI) or CPGT060201 (ISO) geometry inserts. Suitable for multi-use application in turning, facing, and boring operations.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the cutting edge and chip breaker for damage before each use; never use a chipped or cracked insert.
