The KENNAMETAL 1310802 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TPGT3252HP geometry with the KC5010 grade, designed for precision finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, and superalloys. The insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, delivering high wear resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. The triangular shape provides 3 usable cutting edges, and the positive rake angle of 15 degrees combined with a honed cutting edge style supports clean, controlled chip formation at tight tolerances. At 0.6496 inches in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius, this insert is suited to light-to-medium finishing passes where dimensional accuracy is the primary requirement. Licensed ANSI and ISO standards both apply.
This insert is used in external turning, facing, and boring applications on CNC lathes and turning centers in both production and job-shop environments. Its HP chip breaker designation targets finishing cuts where chip control and surface finish quality are critical. The KC5010 grade is rated for steel and stainless steel at high to moderate wear resistance, and also covers cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials. The screw-on holding method requires a compatible TPGT-style tool holder. Maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm, reinforcing the finishing-duty classification of this insert. This product is sold individually; minimum order quantity is 5 units.
Designed for use in TPGT-style screw-on turning tool holders compatible with the ANSI insert size code 3252 and ISO size code 16T308. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring of steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, cast iron, and aluminum. Verify holder pocket geometry and screw hole diameter of 0.1732 inches before installation.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician using the appropriate Torx or hex key for the screw-on clamp fastener specified by the tool holder manufacturer. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Do not mix insert grades or geometries within the same tool holder setup without verifying feed and speed parameters. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure accurate positioning and prevent premature edge failure.
